Target Brand Diapers
The diapers we use are the Target brand ones. They’re $13.69 for the big box (that’s 104-count for size 3, 92-count for size 4, 80-count for size 5), which in our area is a $5-10 per-large-box savings over the brand name ones. With the twins especially, that added up.
We don’t use them at night, though: they hold less than the brand-name diapers, which doesn’t matter during the day but definitely matters at night.
And if you try them, start with a smaller pack because different diapers work differently for different kids. For example, the Walmart brand diapers worked great on my firstborn, but my secondborn leaked out of them so often I thought I would lose my mind—and then he didn’t leak out of the Target ones, which are of comparable quality. And Huggies are a better diaper than the Target ones, and yet they don’t fit my babies well at all, causing many leaks—but Pampers and Luvs have fit all the kids GREAT, and we use those as nighttime diapers. So some of you will love the Target brand diapers as much as I do, but others of you may try them and wonder how anyone could ever use them. —Swistle

Ballpark price: $13.69 for the big box (get the $5-ish small pack if you’re trying them for the first time, in case they don’t work out for your baby)

We buy the Target brand also, along with the Baby Basics (non-)brand, which might be a local generic version? They both work well for us, and are exactly the same. At night we use the uber-expensive Huggies Overnights because our boys are like GARDEN HOSES all night. 75% of the time, I am still changing sopping wet sheets in the morning.

The “different diapers work differently for different kids” is SO TRUE! For our first born, we used the Walgreens brand religiously. We even had to drive to the next town to get diapers because we don’t have a Walgreens, but it was economically worth the trip.
Our second born? No. Only Luvs has held up.
Still, I would throw the Walgreens brand into the less expensive brand recommendations. They were very good for our first.

Target diapers leaked when my son was a newborn, but now, it’s all we ever use. He’s a size 6 and they’re just perfect.

I had a box of these in my hand (the $13 box) just last week, but hesitated and put them back. I’m glad to see, spelled out, what you do. Will have to try a $5 box. I was actually thinking of you when I considered them.
Aww.

once my first boy was around 2, I was fed up with paying for Pampers, so I bought Target brand. They were perfect for the day, and I still used the Pampers at night, but the money I saved? Plenty!!!!

I tried the Target brand diapers when my son was first born and didn’t like them (leaked). Based on your review, I tried them again (he’s 18 months), and I still don’t like them! They didn’t leak, but I found the sizing way bigger than standard and they’re so thin (which I realize is probably a selling point, but I’m used to what I’m used to). So it’s back to Babies R Us ’supreme’ generics - those seem to work for us (although they leak too, but could be because I forget to change often enough!). I just wish they’d go on sale more often.

Just noticed yesterday that the Target brand is no more. They are now carrying a brand called UP. The size 4 boxes went from 80 diapers to 70 and $13.69 to $13.99. So less diapers, for more money.
I haven’t used the UP brand yet - but I did take them out of the box and compared to the Target brand, and I definately see a difference. The elastic on the back of the UP brand is nearly non-existent.
I was an avid user of the Target diapers for daytime. So I’m a little dissappointed that they have changed.
