Lay’s Cracker Crisps
In a perfect synchronized-swimming ballet of advertising effectiveness, I saw an ad for Lay’s new Cracker Crisps on Friday, and saw the Cracker Crisps themselves on Saturday. Purchase and smile and pirouette and flourish!
I opened the bag, and Paul and I nearly finished it off in one sitting. The crisps are smaller than I expected: more Cheez-it size than saltine size. They are indeed a fusion of cracker and potato chip: like a double-thickness Baked Lay’s chip, in a square shape.
The bag we got was nicely seasoned: a good amount of salt (attention marketers: I would buy a product labeled “Extra Salt!” in a heartbeat and by the case) and other flavors. The bag I bought was “Original,” but “Original” doesn’t mean “plain”: they’re seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, and other spices. They’re reminiscent of sour cream and onion chips.
They go down reeeeeal easy. The after-effects are more like eating too many Cheez-its than like eating too many chips. (I ate the rest of the bag while typing this post.) —Swistle
Link: I found them at Target and at the grocery store; Amazon doesn’t have them yet, but they will soon.
Ballpark price: $3.50 for a 9.5-ounce bag (I got them on sale at Target for $2.50)

Swistle - You are SO right. These are perfect. Bought them last night and nearly at the entire bag in the 9 PM hour. Perfect. Thanks for the review!
