Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish
When we redid our kitchen last year we decided after much hemming and hawing to put in stainless steel appliances. I was worried that they would look great for all of five seconds before becoming coated in fingerprints, but for once something a salesperson told us ended up to be true: once you’ve polished a stainless appliance a few times, it accumulates a sort of patina that makes it more resistant to future smudges. You’ll still need to clean it, just like you would with a regular appliance, but you won’t have to buff out toddler-level noseprints every single day.
I was using a liquid product to do my every-so-often polishing, but that seemed awfully fussy — like cleaning silverware, or something. This spray-on cleaner is much easier to use, and does a terrific job. I just spray a bit on a paper towel or rag and wipe off whatever shmutz has appeared on the fridge handle/microwave face/dishwasher/etc. Poof: perfectly shiny silver kitchen gear, with minimal effort from me. WIN.

I just wanted to second this recommendation. We have stainless steel fridge and a stainless steel cooktop. The Weiman’s works really well to shine it up (we have the grubby toddler finger/nose/face problems too).
I have had a problem finding something that buffs out small scratches. Our cooktop has the big cast iron grates. I have to take it off to clean the stove. I’m not what you would call “gracefull” so I have knicked a few places on the stainless. I have tried something called Barkeeper’s friend, where you mix up a paste, and its supposed to help buff out scratches, but it didn’t work well for me. If you ever find something that helps with scratches, I’d love to read about it!

I second this recommendation as well. I would also say that when I couldn’t find it at my Target, I tried the Method stainless steel spray cleaner (it’s liquid). The Method stuff awful in comparison to the Weiman, so much so that I just threw the still full bottle away.

Me three on the Weiman, but I’ve recently found something I love even more, if you can believe it (Stainless steel cleaners, I have tried them all…)
Check out the caldrea.com products - I have the Lavender Pine Stainless Steel Spray and I have never been more in love with a cleaning product.
This is the first SS product I’ve found that really doesn’t need the buff buff buff routine to get rid of the streaks, and it also smells divine (I checked out their site and they have other fragrances if you’re not a lavender fan).
Caldrea claims to be earth friendly too. I bought mine in Canada and it was $15, it will be cheaper down there, but I have to say it is very concentrated and lasts forever. I have had mine since Christmas and I use it several time a week on three or four appliances and the bottle still feels about 3/4 full.

I love the spray weiman product for stainless steel. It works really well and is much easier than the liquids. I do find it really frustrating that I can’t get it at Target anymore, though.

Lara can you tell me where in Canada you bought it?

Question about the Caldrea products — are the scents strong, mild or faint. I can’t take a lot of fragrance (i.e. can’t go into candle shops, etc).
