Chicago Steak & Chop Pepper Blend

175_chisteakchop.jpgMy husband brought home this garlic pepper blend from our local meat market and at first I wasn’t sure I liked it. But then I started noticing that I was sprinkling it on every single thing I cooked, stopping myself from dumping it in the chocolate pudding only by sheer force.

The ingredients include sea salt, garlic, onion, pepper, coriander, dill seed, caraway, and chili pepper. It works beautifully on your meats of choice, but also on vegetables like broccoli, bok choy, spinach . . . you name it. It transforms tofu. The resulting taste is slightly sweet, salty, garlicky, and wonderfully spicy.

Not sure where all you can find this spice blend, but if you see it in your grocery store I highly recommend giving it a try.

Ballpark price: $7

I’m always on the lookout for new seasoning blends. I haven’t seen it in any of my local markets, but I will order it online. Thank you, Linda.

Have you tried any of the other blends?

I have one for you. Morton’s Hot Salt. Mmm good!

Cut several potatos into smallish cubes, toss with olive oil, then sprinkle (or POUR) this all over them, roast/bake/whatever then eat and become OBSESSED with seasoned potatos. MMMMMMMMM

Linda: If you haven’t tried it, Urban Accents’ Fisherman’s Wharf is excellent.
