One-Minute Styling Trick for Reviving Hair

So I am 34 years old and I *just* discovered this hair styling trick for days when you don’t have time to shower and you need bedhead hair to look awesome with minimal effort. I don’t know how well it will work on various kinds of hair, but for my stubborn wavy-straight-frizzy hair that I am constantly trying to smooth and uniformly straighten, it works like a charm. Ready? It’s super complicated, so you might need a pen and paper, and maybe some graph paper, and well, here goes:

Blow-dry your hair while it’s dry. The End.

No, seriously! You will be AMAZED. I use a round brush and spend about sixty seconds with the dryer, running it over the brush while it’s pulling my hair tight and curling down the ends, and the results are even better than if I fussed around with a flat iron and styling cream. It somehow re-injects volume into my hair, de-limpifies everything, and smoothes it all down at the same time. I have a theory it works best if you already have some residual product in your hair but I have not conducted any scientific experiments to prove this.

This has saved my hair from looking like hot ass on no-shower mornings, and it totally revives post-workout hair too (I suppose the idea of blowdrying your hair with dried sweat in it is sort of gross but shut up, YOU come babysit while I take a leisurely shower).

Try it, and let me know how it works for you!

I find this works on my very short hair as well, but ONLY if I have residual product and/or fresh product in my hair (I use a pliable putty-like thing), otherwise it just stands on end.

Just FYI for those who have supershort hair — it works on us, too!

It also works when you need to stretch out just ONE MORE DAY without washing. Kinda gross, but works like a charm.

Yep - this one totally works! I’ve been relying on it quite a bit myself what with the needy five-week old baby sucking away all my free showering time and all…

I will try this tomorrow. I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. Kind of crazy if it works.

Hope all is well with Dbaby.

Maybe it’s related to that rule that hairdressers have about styling your hair in updos and the like, that it shouldn’t be totally clean, it just works better.

I’m totally game for trying. I shower at night and sleep on damp hair. I look insane most mornings. When I don’t look insane, I look psychotic.

This also works on short straight thick hair like I have. I have residual product in it from the day before when I washed it, and I just smooth and fluff it with my hands. It eliminates all bed head, kinks, bumps, and bangs going in different directions. After blowing drying my dry hair, it looks better then when I blow dry it from being wet. It has that ’second day’ hair look that hairdressers try to give you.

I have to try this - I’m with Di and the insane/psychotic after wet hair thing. My hair is pretty awful lately.

HA! this one I knew. I do it all the time. It’s a great time saver on those mornings when you wake up late for work and have no time to shower. The no shower thing also works well for keeping (annoying) co-workers at bay. LOL!

I have a small spray bottle of water. I spray my hair lightly and then do the blowdry thing and my looks great a second day. I wish, wish, wish I had discovered this trick years ago.

I have been doing this every shower-free morning since high school, no lie. I didn’t think it was even something worth mentioning until reading this! My hair is think and wavy and filled with morning mystery creases until I blast hot air at it for a minute or two.

I also sleep with my hair up in a high ponytail, which magically imparts some volume and keeps the bedhead at bay a tiny wee little bit.
