Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Coffeemaker
In the unlikely event you’re in the market for a new coffeemaker, I’d like to recommend this Cuisinart model. We decided to replace our old Braun model that had a built-in grinder, because while I sort of liked the energetic WHIRRRHHHH!!! of the beans being ground up for each pot I made, the thing was a major bitch to keep clean. In comparison, the Cuisinart is a breeze—I pretty much just rinse the carafe and that’s it. The stainless steel/black combo hides any coffee staining, and I use paper filters instead of the built-in cone filter so I can easily get rid of the grounds afterwards. If you’re picky about temperature, you can actually adjust the warming plate, and it’s got a charcoal filter for the water.
Most importantly, it makes a great-tasting pot of coffee. The only nitpick I have is that it’s a little hard to pour the water into the reservoir without spilling it—it’s sort of narrow—other than that, it’s just a really great appliance. Good holiday present for someone who’s still using that ancient, stained Mr. Coffee.
Note: Amazon is currently listing its normal price at $150 (!); I bought it at Amazon’s “special” price for $79.95.

I second this recommendation! We got one as a wedding present almost 3 years ago and it’s been fabulous. Even though the water resevoir opening is a little small, when you’ve got the lid on the caraffe and you pour water into the resevoir, the water actually doesn’t leak out from under the lid like other caraffes I’ve had. We bought the matching stainless/black Cuisinart coffee grinder to go with it and everything’s worked perfectly. My husband is definately a bigger coffee drinker than me and he gives it two thumbs up!

My totally different coffee maker also has a problem with a narrow pouring area. I’ve been thinking of getting a watering can, the kind with a long thin spout.

We have that coffeemaker as well, and love it. To fill the reservoir I usually just spray directly into it with the spray nozzle sink thing.

I have this coffee maker and I love it! Even with the narrow reservoir opening it’s the best coffee maker I’ve had. And you’re right, it makes a great cup (or 12) of coffee.

Its not actually the opening (or it might be on this model) - its the coffee pot itself. When you’re pouring, use your thumb to prop open the lid of coffee pot a bit and pour slowly and steadily. This should fix the spillage problem.
And I have seen that coffee maker. I covet it. I have a knock-off version

I agree. We have this coffee maker from our wedding four years ago and it rocks. I recommend it highly. It has gone down in price A LOT in fact I think I saw it at bed bath and beyond for like $50 bucks or something crazy cheap like that. The water area used to bother me but no longer after four years I am like a pouring champ!

Today it’s only $64.99. I’m getting a little tempted, and I don’t even really need a new coffee maker.
