Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara
Recently I’ve been wearing mascara, which I’ve historically viewed as a mostly pointless beauty product appropriate only for people with very pale eyelashes or a ridiculous amount of free time.
As it turns out, that’s because I’ve been using crappy product — clumpy, globby stuff that requires a half-hour of picking through each lash afterwards to separate it from its sticky neighbor. In comparison, this mascara from Urban Decay goes on smoothly with NO CLUMPING. My lashes look longer and thicker afterwards (heh: dirty), and if I’m feeling particularly frisky, a quick scrunch with an eyelash curler provides some gratifyingly dramatic sweeping movie-star action.
It does take a little extra time in the evenings to remove the stuff (I just use a wet washcloth — which must mean this isn’t waterproof, so don’t go watching the last episode of Six Feet Under while wearing it!) so I don’t wake up with eyes even more raccoon-like than normal, but other than that, this stuff is super easy and super effective.
Plus, you have to love the name.

Funny you mentioned the last episode of Six Feet Under because just the other day I was talking about it and how incredibly sad it was! The last few episodes were horribly sad!

I love Urban Decay’s eye products - esp. the potion primer!
Mascara is a non-essential for most, but for redheads like myself, it’s an absolute necessity. That is why it’s so disappointing to hear great reviews like this, and then find out the company only makes the product in black. WHERE IS ALL THE DAMN BROWN MASCARA? I look like a two-bit hooker in black mascara.

How is it at staying on?
I try a new mascara every couple of months and have yet to find one that doesn’t end up in attractive brown circles under my eyes within a few hours.

might want to give christian dior “diorshow” a try. best mascara i’ve ever used!

as a beauty editor, can i recommend you something waaaay cheaper than diorshow or urban decay (although both are very nice indeed): voluminous by l’oreal. it lengthens, thickens, it comes in a variety of colors, and there’s even a version called high definition, which is even clump-free-ier than the original (although i use the original with great results). for like $4.99 or whatever, i consider it the best beauty deal on the market and woefully underrated.
