Hoola Bronzer by BeneFit

hoola.jpgDisregarding Seattle’s predictably cantankerous weather this afternoon (rain, on a holiday weekend? OH WHAT A SHOCKER), it’s starting to feel more and more like summer might actually be on the way, and thus it is time to do something about my cave-dweller’s skin—without, of course, actually exposing it to sunlight.

(Remember lying out in the sun, your bare face aimed skyward, deliberately frying your skin? Jeez, what were you thinking? File that self destructive behavior— along with smoking those godawful Capri Menthols and drinking Boone’s Strawberry Hill “wine”—under “Youthful Indiscretions”, girlfriend.)

I love this bronzer by BeneFit because 1) it’s not glittery/shimmery/pumped full of magical fairy dust, 2) it’s super easy to apply and works for multiple purposes, and 3) it lasts FOREVER.

The product comes with a little narrow brush which I think works great for sweeping some powder on the crease of my eyes (creates a nice polished look without actually having to fuss with shadow, the effect is even better if you brush on a little light-colored powder on the lids afterwards). You could always just use a powder brush for applying the bronzer if you don’t like the supplied one (Amazon reviewers seem to universally hate it). The bronzer goes on evenly and adds a perfect amount of sun-warmed color to your face, and even does a good job of defining cheekbones (or in my case, “cheek areas, which may or may not include actual bones”). I usually dust a little on my cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin.

Despite fairly regular use there’s hardly a dent in the product, and I’ve had it for years. I LOVE BeneFit.

I could go on and on about my insane love for Benefit products. The thing that always gets me is the damn packaging! I’m such a sucker! Not only do I love the way the makeup WORKS, but it is also completely adorable! My personal favorite is “Boi-ing!” and “Touch Me Then Try to Leave” cream.

You HAVE to try Dallas by Benefit. It’s Hula & Dandelion combined, so it’s bronzer and blush together basically. It’s soooo pretty….it’s Hula X400. I always feel like I just got back from Mexico, but in the healthy, glowy sense and not in the fake, orange way.

How does this compare with the bronzer that comes with the Bare Escentuals kit? Personally, I find that bronzer waaay strong, and good only for applying very, very sparingly on small parts of my face. Is this Benefits one toned down, then?

Keri, I don’t really like the BE bronzer either and I never use it. I think the BeneFit one is much less, uh, George-Hamilton-esque. You can put on a little or a lot, which is how makeup should work, dammit.
