Crocs Capri sandals

croccapri.jpgWell, those Mohop sandals are cute and all, but I’m more of an affordable-footwear girl—and if they’re comfortable enough to wear on walks and indelicate enough to tromp through puddles, all the better. Added bonus if they’re flip-flops, my idea of the perfect shoe.

My latest flip-flop purchase came from Crocs, the people who make what surely has to be the world’s ugliest yet most beloved clog. I have yet to drink the Croc-Clog Koolaid, but I can wholeheartedly recommend their Capri sandal. It feels fantastic, looks sporty-yet-attractive, and it even has “circulation nubs” on the sole to stimulate blood flow in my happy, happy feet.

They’re more expensive than most of my other thong-type shoes but at $40, it’s not a bad price for a shoe that I’m positive will be in heavy rotation all summer long.

Ballpark price: $40 (I got my pair at Joe’s Sporting Goods for a few bucks less)

They look like they are a little heavy in the heel. Do they make that annoying flip-flip-flip noise when you walk, the one that is especially noticeable in a quiet place? I like the little bit of a heel on them, though. It elevates them beyond the cheapy plastic flip-flop.

They do sort of make the noise (I kind of love that noise, it always says “summer” to me) but not nearly as much as my cheaper ones, probably because the heel is heavier.

A note about Crocs. I read Sweden banned them in hospitals because they caused “lightning clouds” of static electricity that jammed medical equipment. Strange eh?

I might have to get a pair of those… question though, just wondering… do you normally order these things online? Or are you buying them at some retail outlet? I haven’t seen these around.

I like the flip-flop noise too, isn’t that what they’re named for?

They were on sale last week at Dick’s Sporting Goods for 29.99. I was looking for a pair for my kiddo. Mostly to annoy Dad who is a fashionisto.

The Croc clog Kool-Aid. Bahhaha. I liked the Croc clogs when they first hit the shelves, but soon they were ubiquitous and worn with socks and it was like a whole epidemic of “the future [of footwear] is in plastics” believers. Yawikes.

Even though the Crocs are ugly, I want some because I need something I can wear to work after going barefoot all day in the summer, and I don’t want to wear socks. I wish they could make them a little cuter and less ubiquitous, though.

If you check out the Crocs website, there is a new Mary Jane clog style that’s MUCH cuter than the original.
