Mrs. Meyer’s Lavender Countertop Spray

mrsmeyers.jpgTonight I did some perfunctory swabbing in the kitchen with a newly-purchased-for-the-first-time bottle of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lavender Countertop Spray and holy crap, my entire house smells so amazingly wonderful it makes me want to keep on cleaning (!), just to add more scent to the air.

It worked really well on the kitchen-grime, too, just as effective as 409 or whatever. The smell is both strong and lingering (in a good way) and in this particular flavor it’s an herbal tang of lavender with a citrus note—orange or grapefruit or something. Really, really nice.

I just noticed this brand the other day, and I see Mrs. Meyer’s also makes laundry detergents and pet shampoos and candles and lotions. They seem to be an environmentally friendly company, too. Glad to know about you, Mrs. Meyer!

Ballpark price: $5 for the countertop spray

I like the hand soap, too. And I like the labels on all the bottles. The geranium smells the way Shabby Chic would smell if it had a smell: vintage / old lady in a good way.

I first found the automatic dishwasher detergent on drugstore.com a few months ago and it has been love ever since. Even my tough guy of a boyfriend has asked that I continue to stock up on this stuff because he loves the scent too! Very pretty and clean. Love it!

mrs meyers is a minnesota company! yay! they are great. everything is super environmentally friendly an doesn’t smell like creepy chemicals. also, the company seventh generation is awesome. their toilet bowl cleaner smells like real mint, not that fakey crap. and i was short on our dishwashing detergent which is orange smelling and had to buy cascade *yuk* and i ran the dishwasher and our house was filled with awful chemical-and-bleach smells. it really does make a difference. mrs meyers does an awesome lemon verbena too.

We ran out of Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap, and they didn’t have any at the store. Boyfriend was all, “We just need soap, why does it have to be that soap? It doesn’t matter.” And I fell for it, and we bought some Tea Tea Oil crap soap, and now handwashing time is always disappointing.

I started using this after you mentioned it but I just found a new use for it!

You know how there is a puddle of old stagnant water that collects under your dish drying rack? (ok, is it just me then??)
I - yet again- lifted the rack and cleaned that nasty water and then gave a few extra spritzes — and left them there (no wiping!), replaced the rack and the next time there was no stagnant water smell!! Yay!!

I learned a new housecleaning trick!!
