Bare Escentuals Eyeshadow
I’m a devoted fan of the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals foundation makeup, it’s what I use every single day to even out my complexion and Photoshop my face into a smoother, fancier version of itself. While I’ve been loving the foundation products for a while now, I recently bought an eyeshadow from the Bare Escentuals line and damned if it isn’t the best eye makeup I’ve ever used.
I don’t wear eyeshadow all the time, but when I do I tend to get powder all gunked up in the crease of my eye after a few hours. Not so with the Bare Escentuals, which looks just as good at the end of the day as it did when I first put it on.
The product itself is a soft talc powder that’s easy to apply with a brush. It sweeps on smoothly and blends really well (it seems to sink into your skin the same way the foundation does). I bought the “Bare Skin” color, a warm mauve tone with just the right amount of sparkle—not so much that I look like I’ve troweled glitter gel across my eyes, just a nice flattering glimmery shine.
$18 is kind of expensive for some eyeshadow, but a little bit goes a long, long way. This container should last forever, although you’ll need to keep the lid securely fastened (speaking as someone who accidentally dumped a bunch of eyeshadow in the sink once).

The potential mess is my only knock on Bare Escentuals. I love, love, love it, but it makes a huge mess at the vanity and is hell to travel with. Still, worth it and I can’t wait to try the eyeshadow.
Have you ever smelled the scent, the plain bare escentuals one? Might help with the baby making, it’s delicious.

I bought a kit from Sephora that had the eyeshadow, blush, a tiny tub of the mineral veil, and a dual application brush. Great kit, but the eyeshadow was the best part. I’m hooked.

Stop with the makeup reviews! Because of you I’m using Philosophy Hope in a Jar (LOVE!), Bare Minerals makeup (LOVE!), Fresh Breath Floss Ups, and Chicken Poop lip balm (LOVE!).
Now I’m going to have to try this eye shadow. (I’m going to Sephora this next week to try the BareMinerals liquid eyeliner and the BareMinerals Go Bare Baby set.)
Sephora is not so easy on the budget, eh? But so much good stuff!

I’ve had a container for over a year. Now, I don’t use it daily, but still. It looks brand new (well, except the makeupy prints all over it…)

If you need another BE addiction, try the eyebrow powder. They have multiple shades of blonde, it stays on forever and the little tub will probably be inherited by any future children I have it lasts so long. Heaven.

If you have problems with eye-creasing (I sure do), I recommend the Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick in Vanilla… Bobbi herself doesn’t recommend it as a base for under your eyeshadow, but my friend who is a BB makeup artist secretly does. Just use it sparingly, because it’s kind of thick. Then sweep on the eyeshadow of your choice, and I swear you will be crease-less until you wash your face with honey the next day. Erm, not that I’d go to sleep with my makeup on.
I’ll definitely check out the BE shadows though, because I love the foundation too. I heard Sex Kitten is a nice color, and I’d buy it just for the name.

Do you use an Official Bare Escentuals (overpriced) makeup brush, or does a regular, good drugstore brush do the job as well?

Have you tried buying B.E. mineral makeup online? I seems to me that there is big money to save. But maybe the products are less expensive in the USA? I live in Norway, and can only buy this brand in spa salons. Take a look at my web site, http://www.smallshoppingworld.com. There is a guide to beauty stores, where you can buy mineral makeup.
