Moo Mini Cards

30807_mooimages.jpgI’ve been interested in Moo’s Flickr mini-cards for a while, and a couple weeks ago I took the time to pick out 100 photos from my Flickr account and place an order.

The process of cropping each photo so that you’ll get the best part of the image on the card is kind of tedious, no fault of MOO but you’ll need to invest a fair chunk of time to go through and adjust the cropping marquee for each image. It’s easy, though, you just drag the photo around to get it where you want.

My cards showed up on Monday and I’m super pleased with how they turned out. The printing quality looks great, and the paper stock is nice—heavy with a smooth eggshell finish. The cards are about half the size of a standard business card.

You can also customize the back of the cards. I put my name, my email address, and my Flickr URL on each card. Moo even allows you to include the camera’s metadata from the image (title, date taken, shutter speed, etc), should you like to display that as well.

There’s something really fun about seeing 100 tiny little images from your life. I chose a mix of family photos and other images I’ve grabbed with my camera over the last several months, and I put some up on my desk furniture at work (here’s a closer look), and the rest on our fridge at home.

Learn more about the Flickr cards, read the FAQs, or check out the Moo pool on Flickr. I am particularly inspired by this use of the Moo card, which transforms it into a gift tag. Wouldn’t it be neat to make customized holiday tags using your own photos? I mean, if you were all Martha-y like that.

For about $25, these little cards are awesome. Two big thumbs up for Moo.

These look awesome, just the kind a thing that would make an amazing gift. Thanks for the review!

By the way your desk looked cool before, but these take it to a whole new level of personalization.

I got about two dozen of these awhile ago and although I love them, I’m still not quite sure what to do with them. Thanks for the link to the gallery.

(One thing I’ve seen that’s pretty genius but might make better use of regular Moo cards rather than the mini-Moos is to hand them out when taking pictures at public events like parades or triathlons or music festivals or whatever. That way some of the pictures you take of interesting-looking people might make it back to the people who are in them: snap a pic, hand out a card. You could even charge if you’re into that sort of thing…)

So far, SundryBuzz has cost me the following:
$17 - lip plumper
$8 - monster doll bought on Etsy per your rec
$5 - cherries necklace d’ Etsy
$8 - Eddie Scissorhands T-shirt d’Etsy
$4 - candle d’Etsy
$20 - Bare Escentuals (bought one container on e-bay and adore)
$25 - Flickr cards

That’s $87 worth of my pride in admitting what a Total Consumer Protege I’ve become due to your findings posted cleverly and illustratively each day. Please do not begin endorsing lifestyle changes on here. If you can persuade my pocketbook, there’s no telling what other kind of influences you might bear.

I would like to second the fabulousness of the Moo cards. I bought some myself several weeks ago so I would have “business cards” as I move through my grad program and need something to give contacts. I heart them!

Great idea with decorating the shelves! I ordered some a while back and I love them… although so far they have just remained in their little box. The possibilities seem endless though…

I have been eying these for a while, but I finally decided to order some based on your review — your set looks wonderful! (Like Junniper I have been needing some “business” cards since I’m finishing school, and who needs boring white ones when there are these?!)
