Petzl Tikka LED Headlamp

b0006j30fc01_ss400_sclzzzzzzz_.jpgA reader asked me if I’d consider posting some Valentine’s Day gift ideas for men, so I’ve asked JB to help out with this endeavor. Each entry filed under “JB’s picks” this week will be something he identified as being a Cool Gift for a Guy (although I will point out the obvious and say that girls are totally allowed to dig on any of these and maybe buy it for her own damn self), and he’d like you all to know you don’t need to mess around with any “foofy wrapping” or anything. Duct tape and the Sunday comics are perfectly acceptable.

The first item on the list is a headlamp made by Petzl. JB says: “I have this one and it works great. It’s really bright, and the battery lasts a long time. Awesome for camping or when you need to illuminate something but keep your hands free. For the guys who jam a flashlight in their mouth instead, dude, just think how you look.”

I’ll vouch for this too by saying it’s really comfortable and lightweight and great for reading by when you’re camping.

I can also vouch for this, as I bought it for my husband last Christmas. He LOVES it, and uses it a lot for wiring in the house, digging around the attic or simply working on something that requires a flashlight and two hands, as JB said.

What a great idea, to do a JB’s Picks before Valentine’s Day. I am always looking for something cool to buy Paul, but all the Valentine’s Day ideas tend to be girly: flowers, chocolates, jewelry. I never know what to get guys anyway, but I think of JB as an Undeniably Cool Guy (I think I was influenced not only by his snow art, but also by that action hero sketch you had made of him), and both of the two things he’s picked so far look like things Paul would definitely like–but that I never would have thought of.

We are vampires in my house and all of the bulbs in our lamps have very low wattage, so our camping headlamps double as reading lamps.

I love this headlamp! I jog after work with my dog & now that it’s dark out (*sob*) when I get home, this is fantastic! It provides the necessary light to find & pick up doggie doo as well as let oncoming traffic see you!
