Arrested Development

b0002pys7y01_ss500_sclzzzzzzz_v1093313042_.jpgI know, I know. I am woefully behind the times. And I’ve only watched Season One so far. But I am here to tell that if, like me, you missed the boat on Arrested Development, you need to hit up your Netflix queue right this minute, because this is possibly the funniest television show I have ever seen EVER.

I won’t even try to do it justice by describing it, it’s just…screamingly hilarious, especially as you watch a few shows and the in-jokes start coming fast and furious (Anyong!).

Arrested has the kind of dialogue that whips by you and a few seconds later you realize just how incredibly hilarious it was. There was a line that included the phrase, “I will pack your sweet pink mouth with so much iced creamery…” that I actually replayed about seventeen times just to laugh harder and harder at the delivery, and the expressions on the actor’s faces.

Oh, forget my crappy pimp job, just go rent it or buy it right now and bring joyous joyousness to your holiday season. You know, if you weren’t drowning in it already.

Ballpark price: $54.99 for all three seasons, what a deal!

Ahh Arrested Development, I really do miss it. One of my favorite moments is Toby’s description of the new profession he invented — the combo analyst/therapist (won’t spoil the joke for you). And awesome attorney Bob Loblaw.

I agree! I have all three seasons - the virgin watching experience is the best, but they are always funny. Michael’s mother,Tobias, Buster and Gob are in my opinion some of the funniest characters I have ever seen. There is not a show like it, has not been a show like it. It is completely brilliant….but cancelled. Go figure.

Oh, man, it was so sad when this show was on: all the critics were screaming at the top of their lungs, “WATCH IT!! WATCH IT!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WATCH IT OR IT’LL BE CANCELLED!!” and the people who made the show said they kept it on for a few extra seasons based only on the extremely high critic feedback, and yet STILL no one would watch it.

I KNOW! Arrested Development is the very best. George Michael was my favorite. Hooray for awkward teens!

Funniest show ever. Once you’re into it more, I’ll send you a photo of my husband from our wedding day; he looked just like Buster (ok, that didn’t come out quite as complimentarily as expected). Anyway. Good show.

Mrs. Featherbottom? FREAKIN’ HIGH-LARIOUS!

We bust out phrases from that show all the time and we STILL laugh as hard as the first time we heard them! Glad you stumbled upon television greatness.

My favorite part from season one is still when Maeby called George Michael “Opie” and Ron Howard in the VO said that she better watch her mouth. Cracked me up. Making me giggle at work right now just thinking about it.

If you watch Veronica Mars, Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat were both in “The Rapes of Graff” episode 2.16 in Season 2. They were both very much like GM and Maeby in the epi.

Funniest show I have ever seen. I would be laughing so hard I’d be crying by the end of each episode. Even now, if I think of Mother-boy, Buster’s hand and the seal, Henry Winkler jumping the shark, it’s still so damn funny. Now that you mention it, I should get the DVDs . . . Why can’t all TV be that good? And how can this be in the same genre as According to Jim?

Yes. Just…yes. This is the only show I have ever watched that actually gets funnier upon repeated viewings because you see jokes that you didn’t get the first time, or things that later became important that you didn’t notice at the time… Pure fucking genious.

Mika’s right about the funniest line ever–I actually screamed when I got it.

Must add my voice to the praise of AD - hil! arious! So sad when this was cancelled - got my husband both seasons on DVD so we could review again and again. Hell, I laughed just reading the comments to this recommendation. Feel the need to go home and put AD in the DVD player right now.

Omigod…..I’m SO glad you’re a fan. I would be so upset if you weren’t. My husband and I have all the DVDs, and we *may* or may not watch them a bit obsessively. It makes life much happier. Enjoy!!!!!
