Wanted: concealer!

For a small change in programming here at SundryBuzz, I’m issuing a request: can anyone recommend a good concealer?

I use this amazing makeup that I continue to love beyond all reason, but I’ve realized my shadowy undereye circles are no match for the mineral foundation, however awesome it might work for the rest of my face.

I actually do get plenty of rest, yet I look like a sleep-deprived zombie most of the time (I blame The Child). So I need some really great concealer that erases the undereye circles without leaving caked-on crap that hides in my, uh, character lines.

Any ideas? I’ve mostly tried drugstore brands, both liquid and cream, without success.

I use CoverBlend by Exuviance. You can find it here. It is fantastic.

Keeping it in the Bare Escentuals family, have you tried bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Minerals? It’s different from the foundation and does a great job on undereye circles. There’s a shade called Well Rested, which is seductive by name alone.

I like the cover crayon here:

I have that same problem with the caked on, magical little line makers in the past and this summer I had my friend who is a makeup artist take me out and show me what to buy and he swears by this whole Shu Emura line. Its expensive, but I’ve loved everything I’ve used so far…

Have you tried the Bare Minerals concealer? I use Aromaleigh mineral foundation (love) and I recently picked up their mineral concealer. It’s superduperfine and lasts forever and a day and doesn’t sink into fine lines the way liquid ones do, because you can kind of buff it out of there the same way you can the foundation.

I’m sure BE has something similar, but if not, here’s the Aromaleigh Pure Cover that I use and love. I know you’re happy with Orgasm, but a word to the wise, should you ever decide to switch: AL and BE have great foundations, but their blushes? Not so much. Don’t be tempted.

I love the Bobby Brown Foundation Stick. I dab it under my eye with my finger tip until it’s pretty even and then follow up with a light powder bronzer to blend it in. It’s pretty damn expensive for concealer (about $38) but mine has lasted a long time so I think it’s worth it. I use Warm Ivory.

Oh and I only use the Bobby Brown Foundation Stick as a concealer. Chose a shade that was a little more light than my skin so with the bronzer - it blends really nice. Great for zit cover-ups too.

WELL RESTED! WELL RESTED! WELL RESTED!

I heartheartheart the damn stuff. Be careful not to use too much or you’ll look like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally when the girls were sitting at a sidewalk cafe and it was sometime in the mid-eighties.

Also! (I just left a comment in All and Sundry): Have you heard of Everyday Minerals? I’ve been wanting to try mineral makeup (especially after your review!) but was put off by its crazy expensiveness. Then I read about this one, which is much cheaper! It also has a free sample kit, so I was able to try it out before buying it, which is awesome.

I really like it so far, and even find (knock on wood) that it’s doing well with my adult acne issues (one of the main reasons I was trying to get away from liquid makeup in the first place), but would love to hear how it stacks up against the Bare Escentuals stuff!

The Bare Minerals “bisque” concealer works really well for me if I use an eensy little brush to put it on. But if I sweat it can get a little cakey. I also like Neutrogena Skin Soothing undereye corrector - even though it’s a liquid it doesn’t get all cakey and weird. And my skin is super sensitive and it doesn’t irritate my skin or eyes!

Touche Eclate. Everyone who has ever used it swears by it, and at it, because while it’s fantastic the tubes last about ten minutes and are silly prices. But seriously, worth it. Never cakes, never looks like that “pasted on” effect.

Another vote for Bobbi Brown — I use the concealer kit. Love the little powder that helps fix the concealer.

BeneFit Bo-ing. That stuff is like paste and will cover your circles. You can also make them go bye-bye if you spring for Clartin Extra Firming Eye Countour Serum. It’s expensive, but I think it works.

I use Loreal’s Ideal Balance Quickstick…its amazing and at $12 for a stick - you can’t beat it. It’s sort of powdery even though its a stick foundation/concealer, very light but very effective. Every friend that’s ever borrowed it has fallen in love with it. Is available at Walgreen’s, conveniently.

I’ll second Everyday Minerals - I tried it for the exact same reasons Erin did (price, free sample, etc.) and I LOVE it. Their concealer is fabulous, too - works great on darkness under the eyes, as long as your skin is well-moisturized first. And the free samples really last a long time (especially if you use a smaller brush, like an eyeshadow blending brush, instead of a huge kabuki-style brush, for the concealer).

Benefit Boi-ing! I have a two year who never sleeps and this stuff covers up all the dark circles, icky zits and even my gross rosacea.

I love it and swear by it!

I have been using Estee Lauder Creme Concealer for about 3 years now. I have chronic black eye syndrome. This stuff rocks. It also works really well on covering up blemishes. I actually look human after I put it on. Buy it in one shade lighter than the bare minerals you are using on the rest of your face.

Hi! I left a comment over at Sunday with my favorite two concealers, Benefit and Smashbox, and you can’t go wrong with either one. I just switch off between the two and get whichever one my beloved Sephora isn’t out of at the time. When I just read that you are still wearing the bare minerals though, I thought I would mention that they make something called “Bisque” to use as concealer before you swirl and tap and all that crap. (I use it all too. Love it, just wish it wasn’t so messy.) Anyways, I always felt that I had to use way too much Bisque to get the desired results, but know several people who swear by it. I might be more dark circley than normal people. You might try it and see what you think. Mwah!

i too am a huge bare escentuals fan. however, i wear contacts and often find using any of the powder in that area results in a total teary-eyed disaster. i need a pretty heavy duty eye concealer, because as a night nurse, i often function on minimal amounts of sleep and it often shows under my eyes. ive fallen in LOVE with vincent longo concealer and wont use anything else. its a bit pricey, but it lasts FOREVER and can be used on just about any area that needs concealing–a blemish, under eyes–or even as a hilighter. put it on with your fingertips or a concealer brush and youre ready to go. i used benefit boi-ing, which is pretty decent, but the vincent longo has more color choices which ended up blending with my skin better. also, i found it worked great in other places when i needed it.

I have been battling the dreaded dark circles for years. I’ve tried so many products like BE’s Bisque, Vincent Longo, etc…both of which are very good, but I still think Touche Eclat by YSL is one of the best, but priciest, products for concealing dark circles. And it’s not heavy..no awful cakiness…just, damn, it’s not cheap.

I too use the fabulous BareMinerals, and have the worst hereditary dark undereye circles EVER. So bad, mind you, that someone once asked me how I got my black eye. Yeah.

Anyway… the lovely woman at Sephora who helped me pick the proper shade of BareMinerals also gave me the concealer I use, made by Cargo in a silvery tube with a wand applicator. Dot on, blend with sponge. Perfect! Granted, they’re not 100% covered up because they never will be, but this is the best I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried a LOT. Check out my myspace–you can barely see my raccoon-esque half-circles.

For reals, you have got to go with Lancome. It is the only thing that I’ve ever used that covers up my nasty under eye circles, and between the asthma, allergies, and general lack of sleep, I know of which I speak.

I went looking for a new concealer and am very happy with the product I just bought so thought I’d pass it along and a few things I learned about under eye problems. It’s called Circle\Delete 2 Concealer by Jane Iredale (http://janeiredale.com/products/concealers.html). This particular concealer has a two-tone system: pink to cover bluish or dark circles and veins, and then a shade to match your skin to hide other flaws. It has a lovely texture. Just divine. Spreads like silk. As soon as I apply the pink to the dark bits, they completely disappear. But the makeup is hardly noticeable.

When I bought this product I was given a gift of Total Eye Care by Dermalogica, which I cannot say enough about. This is the best eye care cream I have ever used.

Hey there! It’s your Quebec fan club! :o ) I’ll have to go with sg on this one and highly recommend MAC concealer. It blends in super well and does not leave chalky/greasy/icky build-ups and I use it with my face cream for a more discreet blend. It’s like magic in a wonderful little tube.

Their Studio Fix Foundation is also awesome…although I know you’re a fan of that mineral stuff.

Cheers! Happy New Year!

Dior hydrating concealer. sure darkness can be easy to cover up, but keeping it covered, is another story. dior makes excellent makeup, lots of pigment, higher cost but lasts a long time.
dior all the way for concealer

I have tried everything. The YSL Touche Eclat is nice but it’s spendy ($45). I just bought the bobbi brown concealer to go ($20) and the mini brush ($20) One thing I’ve learned that if Bobbi sells a brush, you buy it. I have better results if I use Clinique all about eyes first.

Hands down, the Bobbi Brown concealer w/powder ELIMINATES dark circles, red lines, etc. It is just perfection — and I’ve tried many, many concealers over the years.

I’m extremely fair (a nice way of saying freakishly pale) and I have blue-red undertones to my skin so most concealers look too yellow on me. I use Prescriptives foundation and concealer (Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer), which blend perfectly with my hard-to-match skin tone. The concealer’s got SPF 25 and it does a great job concealing under-eye circles, red spots, blemishes, etc. without ever looking cakey.
