Sierra Trading Post

sierratradingpost_ostrich.jpegI recently placed my first order with Sierra Trading Post (I got a pair of Cruel Girl capri jeans, which fit AWESOMELY by the way) and my shipment arrived on schedule, I was billed the amount I expected, and now I love this website beyond all reason, because hello: ONLINE OUTLET MALL.

Their “just reduced” section is worth taking a look at, but I’m particularly drawn to these things right now:

• Nerdy-but-cute Coventry Sneakers, $15.95

• Elle Maven slip-on shoes in brown/rose/silver, $39.95 (marked down from, in theory, $115)

Lowe Alpine Solar Vest in red (sporty! functional! spiffy!), $29.95

• And last but MOST CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, these Faux Ostrich Chunk Boots, $19.95. I probably won’t get them because they don’t seem, le sigh, very practical for a learning-to-walk toddler, but…go ahead, click the picture at the top of this post! Could they be any more adorable?

Sierra Trading Post! Check ‘em out sometime.

I love Sierra Trading Post! My advice is that if you are thinking at all about buying any of those clearance items, and they have your size, then get them now because otherwise they will sell out right before you make up your mind and then you’ll be heartbroken…not that it’s ever happened to me. Also, be prepared that you will now get at least 3-4 print catalogs from them a week–yes, each week.

I love the prices, but they have this really weird born-again vibe. Read Number 3: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/companyphilosophy.html.

And read Keith’s story: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/founding_story.html.

Of course, even though I’m an agnostic Catholic turned Jew, I still buy because damn the prices are good. And just because there are bible passages printed on the inside of the cups and fries containers doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop going to In -n- Out Burger, either.

Bwaaa haa haaaaaa…..! Another convert! I think I did about 70% of my Christmas shopping last year with STP.

Word to Mandy on the catalogs — yesterday, in fact, we received two “Holiday 2006″ catalogs. I flipped them over to look at the addresses and then told my husband that he could have his but damned if he was touching mine.

I’m so irrationally excited that your experience went well and the Cruel Girl capris were a success!

Love this site too. I was a little skeptical of the supposed regular retail price, but the quality of everything I have ordered from STP has been consistent with the unmarked-down price. So deliciously buzz-worthy.

They do have amazing service, much better than a lot of OTHER places I’ve ordered that AREN’T a discount store.
Also, I could be wrong, but I think there is a coupon code for, like, $10 off a $30 order if you use Google checkout. It’s been a while since I saw it, though, so forgive me if I’m wrong.

I just ordered some insulated curtains from them, after following your link. My living room will now be warmer this winter, thanks to you. :)
